Roasters choice march: Colombia
“Way down among Brazilians,
Coffee beans grow by the billions,
So they've got to find those extra cups to fill.
They've got an awful lot of coffee in Brazil.” -Frank Sinatra the coffee song
Nobody likes change, however with change comes progress. If you haven’t heard it through the grapevine yet you are hearing it here! For the past couple of decades coffee was accessible in abundance, mostly from the South American regions. So much so that in the 1940-50s it became somewhat of a golden age for the coffee industry. This period is coming to a close soon; with south americas driest season in 30 years. Colombia experienced a severe drought in 2024, with record-low rainfall and dangerously low water levels in reservoirs. The hope is that as this will result in making sustainable practices more common and in turn pay the farmers a more livable wage. As the market shifts we shift with it. The pros and cons play tip the scale as the changes affect each ladder within the coffee industry from the farmer to the cafe. In light of this we hold South American coffee with a bit more appreciation with all the aroma, and delicious flavor it has to offer so this months coffee is none other than a Colombian medium roast. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do and happy sipping.
